JESSICA GALLAGHER

Recently profiled as one of 200 Women Who Will Change The Way You See The World, Dr Jessica Gallagher’s sporting credentials speak for themselves, but it’s her ability to bring the authenticity of her unique life experiences on and off the sporting field and create synergy with her audience that is un-paralleled.

She challenges you to think differently and see your world from a new perspective. Have you wondered what it would be like to ski down a mountain at 100km/hr when vision impaired and instructed by someone else? Would you trust someone taking your life into their hands?

At 17, Jessica was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative eye disease. Losing most of her sight impacted her netball dreams, and at 21, by chance, she found Paralympic sport. In 2008 she was banned from the Beijing Paralympics for being too sighted. She later became Australia’s first female winter Paralympic medallist in 2010. Jessica has represented Australia in 3 sports (athletics, alpine skiing, and track cycling) and is the first athlete to medal at both summer and winter Paralympics, with numerous Paralympic, World Championship, and Commonwealth Games podiums.
